It does appear that those in the sew seem to compete in the summer months only. So if you're interested in any of these competitions, you need to oil up your sewing machine pretty quickly!
The Great British Sewing Bee 2018
This is a televised competition, which will be shown on BBC2 in 2019. The producers are looking for the next group of brilliant, amateur sewers to showcase their talents for an exciting new series of The Great British Sewing Bee.

The Festival of Quilts 2018 Birmingham – Quilt Competition
The Festival of Quilts competition aims to promote and encourage all aspects of patchwork, quilting and applique to enable quilt-makers at all levels to exhibit their work. There are 15 quilting categories available to choose from, including modern quilts, traditional quilts, group quilts, beginner quilts and quilt creations. Every quilt that is entered into the competition will be displayed at the show and there are substantial cash prizes for the winners.
The deadline for entries to be received under the category: Fine Art Quilt Masters has already passed. However, for all other categories, closing date for receipt of entries: Friday 1st June 2018
Sew Your Style 2018
This is a brand new competition for budding dress makers. There are various categories including: "Vintage", "All in the Detail", "Refashion" and "Accessorise". There are lots of prizes to be won including sewing machines and thread over locker and more from Janome, New Look, Hantex, Sewing Quarter and Netprinter.

The UKQU Exhibition 2019 – Quilt Competition
EQS together with UK Quilters United are offering the chance to have a quilt exhibited at a 2019 Grosvenor Quilt Show, as well as winning a selection of Liberty Fabrics, books and notions. The winning quilts will be voted for by the UK Quilter's United Facebook group with voters entered into a draw to win a top prize of a Janome 6700p sewing machine. Each month has a theme and a quilt should be ready by the start of the associated month.
Quilts have to comply with certain dimensions, etc. and applicants must be a member of both the UK Quilters United Facebook group and the UKQU website.
Closing date: effectively (due to the date each quilt needs to be made by) is 30th November 2018.
